Trout season officially opens the last Saturday in April, and this year that date falls on the 28th. It is kind of an unofficial and uneventful kickoff because most trout fisherman practice catch and release anyways. Nonetheless, it brings hope that winter is nearly over. As we look outside at the fresh 4" of snow on top of the snowstorm from earlier this week, faith that the trout opener will bring better weather is what keeps us going around here.
In other fishing related news, we are happy to announce that we will be supporting the Schrem's of West Michigan Trout Unlimited chapter with a donation toward their annual fundraising event on April 17. If you're in the Grand Rapids area and are able to attend, it's a great event held at the wonderful Watermark Country Club. Available spots will sell out quickly.
